Resources
The NUT has created a series of Social Modules and posters, made with you in mind. If there is a topic which is of interest to you and your course-mates, why not run a social on your campus? Whether you are setting up your own NUT Society, becoming an NUT Student Rep or simply planning an event for your study group, these resources are here to support you in your training.

Event Resources
What resources will you need at your event? Make sure you make a list of any food, drink and tableware you will require, as well as paper, pens and any relevant literature. Advertising that a glass of wine will be provided at your social certainly makes people more likely to attend! Your NUT regional office will help with this and may also be able to provide NUT goodies such as lanyards, badges and so on. Make sure you have a table set out to display all the information on.
You will also need to find out what your speaker will need at the event: will they need a projector or flipchart etc? Remember your camera for taking photos of the event!
Finally, have a quick think about your SECOND event. Your best opportunity to advertise for your next event will be at your first social, so make sure you have some details ready for people. Or, you could leave a list with possible themes at the back of the room, and ask people what they would like the theme to be, to take place in the following half term.
Even if your second event is just asking people if they'd all like to go out for dinner in a fortnight's time, or if they could all sign an online petition or fill in a survey, it keeps them involved and participating, and helps your society build momentum.
